So, as you can tell Durance near the conclusion of his quest, the Godhammer didn't save the Dyrwood in the end - it doomed it.Įothas most likely didn't choose some high and mighty lord because it wasn't in his nature to do so. No Engwithan ruins & machines, no means for the Leaden Key to harvest souls. He seems to have been planning on using the Readceran army to conquer the Dyrwood (where there's an awful lot of Engwithan ruins that were central to Woedica & Thaos' plan) and pulling down as many of said ruins as they could reach. Today's Glanfathans aren't Engwithan descendants, they were just tribals from the north (presumably the Ixamitl Plains) who migrated to the ruins of the Engwithan civilization in ages past & came to regard the Engwithans themselves as messengers of the divine, possibly at the connivance of the Engwithan remnants themselves.ģ) It's never stated outright but it is strongly implied, particularly in Durance's quest, that Eothas made Waidwen his avatar and fought the Saint's War to derail Woedica's plot. Not sure if you've also played the White March expansion, but in that it's revealed that Spoiler They almost entirely wiped themselves out to create the gods. Like the other poster said, the Engwithans were an ancient civilization with powerful magic, and were especially skilled in animancy. I saw someone else answered most of your questions, so I'll try to answer the ones they didn't and to provide extra depth the best I can.
