Sebastian Bertoncelj has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, for example with the chamber orchestra of the Music Academy of Ljubljana, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Simon Dvoršak, the Slovenian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Music Academy of Ljubljana’s Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of En Shao. At the international “Svirél” competition in April 2015, he was the outright winner of the solo strings category. In 2013 he was awarded the “Prešeren Prize” at the Music Academy of Ljubljana for the outstanding performances he gave during his studies. In 2011 he received the “Lucijan-Marija-Škerjanc Prize” for his exceptional musical achievements as a student of the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory. At the Slovenian “TEMSIG” competition, he won 1 st prize in the category solo violincello a total of three times (2009, 20). ![]() Sebastian Bertoncelj has won several national and international competitions, for example in Gorizia, Triest, Sterzing and Feldkirchen. Working with musicians such as Robert Nagy, Christian Poltéra, Heinrich Schiff, Alban Gerhardt, David Grigorian, Reinhardt Latzko, Thomas Grossenbacher, Gal Faganel, Daniel Müller-Schott and Klaus Mätzel has also given him important musical stimuli. Sebastian Bertoncelj also receives a scholarship from the International Music Academy in the Principality of Liechtenstein, and participates in the intensive music weeks held there. He also received an Erasmus scholarship to study with Professor Conradin Brotbek at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart. He first studied at the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory and since October 2012 he has been studying under Professor Miloš Mlejnik at the Music Academy of Ljubljana. The Slovenian cellist Sebastian Bertoncelj was born in 1992 and is a regular guest on stage both in his native Slovenia and abroad.
